In our first official recipe, we are going to be cover how to properly cook a ribeye steak using Gaston’s charcoal seasoning.
Our charcoal seasoning works amazingly when there is fat for the seasoning to grab onto which adds an abundance of flavor. Our mouth is watering just thinking about. Here is our go to recipe for charcoal seasoning on a steak.
We generally use about one teaspoon when seasoning our steaks. You can use as much or as little as you like. Just make sure you cover the entire piece of meat with charcoal seasoning and do both sides.
It is important for the meat to sit for 30 minutes with the charcoal seasoning on it to absorb the flavors and work within the muscles and fibers. After about 15 minutes, you will begin to see it get moist. At 30 minutes, it will look almost like you drizzled it with some water. This is exactly what you are going for!
After 30 minutes of sitting, it is time to put the steak on the grill! We use charcoal grills but you can use whatever you prefer. Cast iron skillets are a great option too. Cook the steak to your preference of doneness. Medium rare is how we cook our steaks to perfection.
Another step we like to take is when the steak is done cooking, put one to two table spoons of butter on it.
Once the steak has cooked, let it rest for five to ten minutes. This allows the juices to settle into the meat and continue cooking.
After it has rested, it is time to cut it up and enjoy the meal!
